an exercise in writing – 2

It is a long day at work. The instructions were confusing and you have been told you think too much. You need to be more basic, not filter too much. You find yourself thinking way too much for a think that clearly doesn’t need that much of mental effort. You look tired. Bad night of sleep, much? Remember the warmth of a freshly washed bleached white comforter in a winter night. The smell of that laundry detergent that had a cute little brown bear on its label when you were a kid. Was it lavender or some other relaxing herb? Everything is going to be fine. The bears wouldn’t lie to you, would them? You see by that image in the label. It evokes a kind of warmth that you haven’t seen much these days. The miracle of branding. A bear, some towels and clothing. In the TV commercials, a bear showing up in a room with calm colors, or in a separate quarter of the house only for the baby, or even a toy room. Your clothes – always soft and warm. Like a hug. The kind of hug you might be needing right now.
